High-flying Jessops completes in Suffolk

Newark based building contractors Jessops Construction Limited have completed work on the new Aviation Training International Limited (ATIL) facility in Suffolk following a successful handover last week.

The facility took just over 30 weeks to complete and will provide much needed resources at the training site. The project included the construction of a training building with service diversion works, drainage and external works. The new steel framed building was clad with micro rib panels and included the internal fit out.

Murray Lyle, working on behalf of Jessops Construction Limited said, "We have enjoyed working on this unique project, it is always a pleasure adding diversity to our existing portfolio." He added, "We have been able to involve a great deal of local sub-contractors and ensured that minimal disruption was caused during construction. This was officially recognised when our site was awarded 'Performance beyond Compliance' by independent assessors in the Considerate Constructors Scheme. Despite the challenges including access to an utilised airfield, our team has delivered the project on time and on budget".

Mick Favager, ATIL Training Centre Manager said "From the start of the Maintenance Training Facility project through to handover, Jessops Construction Limited proved they were the partner of choice." He further added "The construction team at Jessops, including Construction Manager Mick Locke and Senior Quantity Surveyor Jo Gray and their excellent procurement department have worked relentlessly and driven hundreds of miles to ensure this project has been a success."

Following completion, Jessops received praise from Chris Channon of project architects Boon Brown who said "Jessops commitment to providing a building of high quality was maintained throughout the construction phase, resulting in a virtually defect free project being delivered within budget and on programme." he added "...Boon Brown Architects would, without question be pleased to work on future projects with Jessops."
