TESCO EXPRESS

The project comprised the construction of a new build detached 4,000 ft2 Tesco Express retail unit.

The unit sits within the grounds of the Catholic Church in Shepshed and before building work could commence the former redundant church hall required demolishing.

Upon completion of the demolition the first element of work to be carried out to comply with the Planning Conditions was the construction of an acoustic fence to ensure any disturbance to neighbouring properties was kept to a minimum.

Upon completion of the above the construction of the new unit could commence, this involved traditional strip foundations (following a cut and fill exercise), new masonry walls incorporating windposts up to the roof level including formation of shop front openings, a long span timber truss roof with concrete tile covering and a new floor slab to FM2 standards.

Externally an enclosed delivery bay was formed along with a new car park facility, a new site entrance was also formed with an entrance road which continued around the store to provide a new vehicle access to the rear of the adjacent church, railings to the front boundary along with soft landscaping.
