The construction a new state of the art, 4500 tonne potato store with specialised temperature controlling equipment has completed on the Leverton Brothers farm in Bourne, Lincolnshire.
The steel framed, metal clad potato store is cutting edge for this farming community, with most farm owners choosing to erect pre-fabricated facilities. The site team have completed the construction of the shell and the internal fit-out which includes specialised ventilation equipment.
The all-important refrigeration and ventilation equipment will provide temperature control in the three potato stores from a mobile phone. Temperatures in the three separate stores can theoretically be set from anywhere in the world. This type of technology is a first in the UK with farmer/owner David having travelled to Holland to investigate its viability.
The project team consisting of clients, David and Alisa Leverton, Simon and Chris from Baillie Knowles Partnership, acting as Client Quantity Surveyor and Employers Agents, together with Jessops Construction Site Manager Steve Hodgson who was supported by the experienced Jessops Construction project team including; Construction Manager Mick Locke and Senior Quantity Surveyor Jo Gray.
Jessops Construction were also able to assist with a successful DEFRA grant submission by offering cost analysis information to support the application for EU Funding to assist with project costs.
