The William Bancroft Building was originally constructed as a clothing mill and now totally refurbished to form a collection of spectacular 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments. These properties offer enormous character and variety, from a total of 64 apartments, there are actually over 48 individual designs.
Internal existing walls were sand blasted leaving featured exposed brickwork and original coffered ceilings with exposed timber and steel. New windows were installed throughout using polyester powder coated aluminium alloy with double glazed units.
All external doors are solid western red cedar, internal doors are solid core flush with steam beech veneer. All apartment front doors have a mortice lock, security chain, overhead self closer, fire rated letter plate with apartments engraved number being fitted.
Every apartment has a fully integrated state of the art kitchen, appliances include stainless steel ovens and Smeg hobs, stainless steel hoods plus fridge, freezer and dishwasher. Kitchen units were installed from the Arnold Laver Studio range.
Floors were fitted using acoustic dynamic batten flooring which was laid over existing floor boards or concrete barrel vaults to achieve superb sound insulation throughout. Internal flooring have moisture resistant chipboard decking, bathrooms and en-suites were finished in vinyl. Floors in living rooms, kitchens and hallways have pre-finished laminated plank flooring laid on etherfoam underlay.
Bathrooms were furnished to a high standard with quality white sanitary ware and shower areas fully glazed tiled.
Communal areas were fitted out with heavy duty carpet, hardwood on handrails and metal balustrades to new staircases. An eight person lift was installed to service one of the blocks, Juliet balconies were fitted to some of the apartments.
The courtyard includes private parking spaces, hard and soft landscaping and secured automated gates. All apartments are fitted with a video door entry system and all ground floor apartments are fitted with an alarm system.
The project has been awarded the Nottingham Civic Society Commendation Award.
