The site was the former Crystal Drinks factory off Wakefield Road, Featherstone, which had been previously demolished with the exception of the floor slab and the external service road.
The works included the breaking up of the concrete slabs, the decommissioning of an existing well and the construction of two retail units. An Aldi Foodstore unit (19,400 sq ft) and a B&M unit (25,900 sq ft). The units are steel framed buildings sitting on precast pad and strip footings and are cladded with composite panels, brickwork, through colour render and shopfront glazing. Internally we carried out the fit out of the B&M unit, this involved the forming of the back of house areas that created a staff, security, cash and managers office, unisex toilets and a disabled WC. To both sales floor areas we installed the terrazzo floor this provided early access for the tenants. External works included the provision of 139 car parking spaces in tarmacadam, 300 cubed attention tank, car park lighting and street furniture.
This site was located near a residential area and one of Jessops Construction focuses was to ensure that they had minimal impact on local community, during the construction phase.
This project was completed on time and within budget
