The project comprised the construction of a new build Aldi Supermarket on a brownfield site off Wragby & Deacon Road in Lincoln.
The external works included 81 car park spaces, retaining wall and stairs, concrete service ramp and soft landscaping.
Part of the site was previously developed and subsequently demolished prior to our occupation. The remaining half was a former Ironstone Quarry which was latterly landfilled and it was for this reason Vibro compaction methods were adopted to consolidate ground conditions prior to building construction.
The construction comprised a steel frame founded on reinforced concrete foundations. Clad with a masonry envelope this was then rendered using a combination of traditional sand cement and acrylic through colour render systems.
Kingspan’s Topdeck composite flat roof system was utilised to close in the building to the elements quickly whilst ensuring quality of the single ply roof membrane with off site production.
The store fit out had to be incorporated into the project duration. Both client direct and domestic subcontractors were closely managed to achieve a defect free product and was delivered to Aldi’s operations department on time and to budget.
