Set in the woodland of Mote Park near Bearsted, this residential development was the final phase of a luxury development that houses 101 cottages and apartments.
This third phase included the refurbishment of the ‘Old Kitchen block’ (OKB), the conversion of the stable block into 4 apartments and the new build of 3 apartments and 2 lodges.
The works included the restoration of the OKB building and the stable block and involved repointing the facades, the removal and complete refurbishment of the existing clock tower, extensive timber treatment and repairs, the introduction of a delta membrane system.
The old kitchen block houses one apartment, beauty treatment rooms and a cinema / gym room. One of the new blocks is a traditionally built structure with stone and brickwork with slates roofs.
The lodges built in timber frame and externally clad with stone and brickwork. Both new builds incorporating features that are evident on the historic buildings in the park and approved by the planning authority.
Although this project had many challenges it finished on time. The team have produced a scheme that looks impressive and blends well within the surround area.
